Straight answers on how to complain about a solicitor, when to use the SRA, when to use the Legal Ombudsman and what evidence matters.

Short answer: The right route depends on the problem. Service issues usually go through the firm and Legal Ombudsman. Conduct issues may need the SRA. Financial loss from negligent advice may need independent legal advice.

Do I complain to the firm first?

For Legal Ombudsman complaints, usually yes. The firm normally has eight weeks or may issue a final response sooner. SRA misconduct reports do not require the same firm complaint gateway.

Is OmbudSRA a law firm?

No. OmbudSRA is a regulatory complaint consulting and document preparation service. It does not provide legal advice or conduct litigation.
