Solicitor Complaint Report Options
Choose the right route before you complain about a solicitor. OmbudSRA helps separate firm complaints, SRA reports and Legal Ombudsman complaints.

A formal complaint to the firm creates the record. It should set out the issue, dates, evidence, impact and remedy requested. For Legal Ombudsman cases, this step is normally required before escalation.
Legal Ombudsman complaint
The Legal Ombudsman looks at service. Delay, poor communication, unclear costs, failure to follow instructions and poor complaint handling are common examples. The complaint needs evidence, impact and a clear remedy request.
SRA report
The SRA looks at professional conduct and public protection. Dishonesty, client money, conflicts, misleading conduct and serious breach are the key areas. A report should show why the issue is regulatory, not only disappointing service.
